Red Stains Removal

January 5, 2019

Red Stains can be some of the most unsightly of all the stains that can occur in your home or business. Red stains can be caused from a natural dye, like a berry, or they can be a synthetic dye, like food coloring. These types of stains are common from juices, fruit punch, sports drinks, wine, and sodas.

Carpets receive their color from their dye sites. These dye sites aren't fully closed off from the carpet manufacturers so that carpet protectants, such as Scotchgard, can be added later. With the dye sites still remaining open, they can still accept dyes, especially on the red spectrum. Removing red stains can be challenging and it is best left to an experienced hand.

If you get a fresh red stain, it is best to try to blot up as much as possible with a towel or using a wet/dry vacuum. Try to avoid using too much water, you don't want it to spread. Be extremely cautious when attempting to remove red stains yourself, these red dyes can easily be permanently set if over the counter spotters like "Resolve, or Natures Miracle" are used and it is very rare that these products will actually remove any of the dye. This type of work is best left to the professionals.

There are specific cleaning agents and techniques that are designed to remove these dyes and we carry both the natural and synthetic dye removers along with everything needed for this process.

At Steam Doc we have great success with removing these dyes and we would love to help you! Don't forget to mention if you have any red stains you need removed when you schedule your next cleaning, or mention it to your Steam Doc technician at your next service visit! We look forward to hearing from you.
